Taize meets Soulspace

So last night we hosted our first Taize service with John Phillips and music group. We had a turn-out of around 70 people from a range of Matlock and local churches along with Soulspace regulars. The evening was a great success – with a terrific combination of wonderful Taize songs combined with images on our giant… Read more »

Book plug / swap

Only at ThirdSpace could you get such an eclectic range of books on offer! Thanks everyone for such a good evening – for passionate promoting – and the not so passionate (did two of us really bring books with the proviso ‘I can’t really recommend this…’?!!) So here are our recommendations – mostly loved bboks,… Read more »

Opening our sails to the Spirit

This morning we met after a pretty stormy few days with a bit of a biting wind which had, mercifully, died down to something more acceptable! The meal

Reflections on the meal last Wednesday… Lavish food and drink – a symbol of God’s generosity, a sense of a foretaste of the heavenly banquet…     Welcoming and welcoming back new and old friends… Sending Peter and Uta with our blessing as they embark on the next part of their journey, moving away, starting… Read more »

Wrestling with God at the bandstand

The park was bathed in sunshine and full of falling leaves today – and it was glorious!   Our focus was based on the brilliant book of meditations ‘Touching the Sacred’ by Chris Thorpe, based around paintings by Jake Lever. Today the image was of the hand of Jacob, held by the hand of the wrestler. Here’s our… Read more »

Sacred trees, altars and travellers

Weeping Beech Just two days after the feast day of St Brendan (the Patron Saint of ThirdSpace?) it seemed appropriate to focus on travel. Brendan had long been an inspiration to us after our friend and writer Michael Mitton likened our journey to that of the Celtic saints who set off in their coracles and let… Read more »
